I drove to Cocoa on the other coast of Florida to pick up Bartleby, an 8-week old Golden Retriever puppy.
Here he is romping with his Mom one last time before I took him home with me.
He is adjusting beautifully.

Oh, mom is so beautiful! B Boy is going to be gorgeous when he grows up! Those short little puppy strides are so cute. Funny background about his name! Melville’s Billy Budd is one of my all time favorite stories!

The Melville story about Bartleby I don’t fully understand. There’s probably some slippery existential meaning in there somewhere, but I have always liked the character who protested in a nonviolent way. I hope (of course) that B. Does NOT refuse to obey!
