Bartleby is a Golden Retriever from Cocoa, Florida, who came to live with me when he was 8-weeks old.
He is a lovable bundle of energy who immediately transitioned and adjusted to his new world here on the Gulf Coast.
The name Bartleby (bart_el_bee) is from a Herman Melville story, Bartleby the Scrivener, about a character who works as a lowly office clerk, and every time his boss gives him an assignment or asks him to do something, he responds: “I would prefer not to.”
Most of us find it easier to call him “B.”, or sometimes “Mr. B.”
My sister, who lives in another town but had gone with me to pick up Bartleby (below right), went back the following week to claim his brother, “Thomas” (below left).
They will see each other frequently, and grow up together.
